Jess & Thomas ∙ "All the Forks!"
Jess is a loyal customer of ours who's returned two years in a row for a creative anniversary gift. When she requested to inscribe a custom leather tray with "All the Forks!" I knew I had to hear the story behind it. Her love story is one for the books! In fact, it’s so great that it featured on Buzzfeed’s Notable Proposals! To get the full picture of their love story, we should back up to when they first connected, in Jessica’s words.
How They Met
We first met in 2010 during an interdepartmental meeting. We were at different points in our personal lives, but clearly on the same page when it came to collaborating together on marketing projects. Thomas is a Senior User Experience Designer and I was the Marketing Manager. After over seven years, I left the corporate world to launch a marketing, event planning and organization consultancy, Simplified by Jess.
After four years of humorous work acquaintanceship, we started to spend quality time together outside of the office. One day, Thomas worked up the nerve to hold my hand. We talked for hours that night about anything and everything.
Moving Forward
Each day since our relationship began (and beforehand), Thomas continues to amaze me in the most magnificent ways. Thinking about the positive impacts we have on each other’s lives causes my heart to overflow with joy. My mind, heart and soul are forever with Thomas. Our no bullshit policy is the foundation of our authenticity and sincerity. We simply love each other with no judgment.
It shows that we have the utmost respect for each other and that our love is unconditional.
We work together for our marriage and ensure that we remain communicative, honest, open and respectful. I appreciate the times in which we disagree and argue, and then we reset and come together as a team to find a solution and a compromise. To me, it shows that we have the utmost respect for each other and that our love is unconditional.
The Proposal
(In Thomas' words) When Jess and I first started dating, we came upon a greeting card that made us simultaneously laugh and feel overwhelming amounts of love: 'If I had a fork for every time I thought of you, I’d have drawers and drawers and drawers of forks.' We continue to infuse this sentiment into our relationship by saying, 'All the forks!' For our proposal, I thought it would be the perfect time to express to Jess how many forks I have from thinking of her.
We were overjoyed and later shared a laugh about her reaction as I utterly floored her with this momentous surprise.
Upon arriving home, there was a small box on the counter. Once she finally opened the wrapped box (she opens them meticulously, no tearing of wrapping for her), there laid a simple, silver fork engraved with the words 'marry me'. We were overjoyed and later shared a laugh about her reaction as I utterly floored her with this momentous surprise.
The Wedding Day
I loved our wedding day because it was beautiful and in our favorite brewery, Funky Buddha Brewery. So quintessentially us: nice, not fussy, and full of love. Our parents gave heartfelt, tearjerker toasts and we danced the night away with 60 of our closest friends and family in the most fun wedding venue!

It means so much that Jessica has returned to us year after year, for a creative anniversary gift. We wish them many more laughs, smiles, and "all the forks!"
